"Reconciliation – it’s not
hard to understand"

Reconciliation Week
marks the anniversaries of two significant events
in Australia history; the 1967 referendum that
extended citizenship to Indigenous Australians and
The High Court’s Mabo decision. Involve your
students in the ongoing process of reconciliation
and participate in this program.
Dance workshop with NAISDA students For
Years 5–12
An opportunity for your students to participate in
an experience which fuses elements of traditional
Indigenous dance with contemporary dance forms.
The workshop will be led by senior students from
NAISDA (National Aboriginal Islander Skills
Development Association).
Dates: 27,
28, 29, 30 May, 2 or 3 June
Times: 10.00 to 11.30 am and 12.30 to 2.00 pm
Maximum workshop size: 20 students
Cost: $10 per student
Digital Media workshop in the SoundHouse™
For Years 5 -12 Students make a music video using
the latest digital video technology. Drawing
inspiration and material from the Dance workshops
students make their own project with class
compositions compiled on a CD to take away.

Times: 1pm – 3pm
Maximum workshop size: 30 students
Cost: $6 per student, $3 per student Member

Bayagul: contemporary Indigenous communication and
Bush Tucker connections.
The contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander cultures gallery can give your students
greater understanding of how Indigenous
Australians are ‘speaking up’ in the areas of
media, performing arts, fashion and tourism. Bush
tucker connections (currently a component of
Bayagul) tells the story of Indigenous people’s
interaction with the Australian landscape through
implements used for food gathering.
