Marie Bashir, NSW
Governor, to speak publicly in Mosman about
reconciliation
The Mosman Reconciliation Group is hosting a
lecture by the much-admired Governor of NSW,
Professor Marie Bashir.
.She will give her perspective on Reconciliation
at Mosman Returned Servicemen’s Club auditorium,
719 Military Road, Mosman, NSW on Monday June 16
at 8pm.
“Her Excellency the Governor has been a strong
supporter of the reconciliation process over many
years” said John Buckley, Co-Chairperson of the
Mosman Reconciliation group.
Professor Bashir is a local Mosman resident and
has been suggested as a possible candidate for the
now-vacant position of Governor General of the
Commonwealth of Australia, most recently by the
leader of the NSW opposition John Brogden.
“This is an opportunity to hear one of Mosman’s
leading citizens speak on one of our most
important national issues” said Rev Buckley.
The Reconciliation Group has also invited Susan
Moylan-Coombes to share the platform on the same
evening. Susan is an indigenous woman and is
acting Aboriginal Coordinator of the Northern
Sydney Institute of TAFE. She also heads up the
organising team for the popular Guringai festival
and is the granddaughter of Nugget Coombes.
The Mosman Returned Servicemen’s auditorium was
the venue for the first WikEd events which
attracted over eight hundred people.
Admission to the lecture is free.
